We are all sad to see the hot weather leave. The good news is that Fall/Winter 2018 is full of colour and texture for beauty. Say good-bye to the days of going neutral with taupe, browns, greys and navy blue. Why should Fall/Winter look cold and drab when we can spice it up with these trends for the season?
Skincare (most important in this harsh season)
The key is to moisturize, moisturize and MOISTURIZE with the right product for your skin type. During the season, the skin becomes dryer than usual because of the environment and temperature. How do we combat this for great skin despite the ‘not so good’ weather? Using creams during the day time which has hyaluronic acid and great benefits for your skin. This substance has the ability to attract and hold moisture. Night time is great to use oils to nourish the skin. My favorite oils to use is a Vitamin C serum, wait for 20-30 minutes for it to absorb into the skin then apply some olive oil. When I wake up, I rinse my skin with cool water which wakes up my skin, and makes my skin feel really soft because of what I did the night before.
Makeup Trends for Fall/Winter 2018
Since we got the most important thing out of the way (taking care of our skin), let’s talk about trends for eyes, lips, face and all the fun things to look forward to this season.
Colors that are making an impact this season are blues, greens, purples, and oranges. Also when it comes to eye shadows, combining colors gives a summertime feel even though we have changed seasons.
For the look of the season, it is the “no makeup” make up look. This look is all about keeping your skin fresh with a good liquid foundation that matches your natural skin. Use a peachy color blush to flush the cheeks naturally, if you are very dark skinned, using something more reddish will be your blush tone for cheeks. The texture I suggest for cool weather are liquid or crème foundations. If you have oily skin, you can get away with using a powder if you apply it lightly so that your skin does not appear as powdery but rather smooth.
Light contouring to play up the natural beauty? Understated lips or bold lips colors for the fall/ winter season? When I think of fall makeup, I think of Paris the women are very minimalist about their makeup and focus on skin care with bold red lips or a natural lip color. We can’t forget eyeliner which shapes out the eyes. Just a fine line will do or smoking out the lash line or even going bold by doing something graphic.
This 2018 Fall / Winter, I think less is more while still having brightness and boldness, just more subdued. As always makeup is fun, if you want to keep bronzing or shaping out your face with highlighting and contouring do whatever makes you feel beautiful, and confident. It’s only makeup, it doesn’t make you who you are.
Right now, I am feeling the Color Pop palette below.
